The Cubbon Park is located in the heart of Bangalore city. The Cubbon Park is one of the important landmarks and tourist destinations of Bangalore. The Cubbon Park is surrounded by Vidhana Soudha - the legislature office, Attara Kacheri - the High Court and other many popular landmarks of Bangalore. Tourists visiting this Park in Bangalore city have nicknamed the city itself as 'Garden City'.

The history of Cubbon Park dates back to more than 100 years. It was established in the year 1870 by John Meade, the then acting Commissioner of Mysore. The huge landscape of Cubbon park was conceived by Major General Richard Sankey, the then Chief Engineer of State. The Cubbon Park was initially named as "Meade's Park" as mark of honour to John Meade and subsequently it was called as the Cubbon Park.

From beginning of the park, it had been developed as well as enhanced by adding modern structures and attractions. In the year 1927, the Cubbon Park was formally renamed as "Sri Chamarajendra Park" to honor the Silver Jubilee of Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar's administration in Mysore State.

Cubbon Park was initially planned as a public park in a place of approximately 100 acres and stretched over time. The Cubbon park includes a largest green area with a handful concrete structures, housing government offices. The Cubbon park also has many motorable roads. It has well laid out walking paths running in the park. It serves like a natural public park, in the same time it protects the nature as well as greenery. It really is a most important lung space of Bangalore and also a spot for early morning walkers, so in addition for naturalists who research plants in serene nature.

Cubbon Park is managed by the Department of Horticulture. The Deputy Director of Horticulture (Cubbon Park) is in charge for the administration as well as maintenance of the park.

Though no particular events are organized from the Department inside the Cubbon Park, regular shows are done at the Dancing Musical Fountain. Two shows are done daily from 7.00 PM to 7.30 PM and 8.00 PM to 8.30 PM each duration of half an hour. Dancing Musical Fountain closed on every Monday and Second Tuesday of the month.

Location and Access of the Cubbon Park, Bangalore

Located in heart of the Bangalore city, the Cubbon Park is reachable from MG Road, Kasturba Road, Hudson Circle, as well as Ambedkar Veedhi. Various motorable roads running in the park make vehicle movement easy. Just light automobiles are permitted inside the park. Many walking lanes crisscross the Cubbon park spot making most of the locations reachable.

Cubbon Park is usually a public park with many Government Departments, associations as well as clubs in its surroundings. The Cubbon Park is open always. It is declared a silent zone between 5.00 AM and 8.00 AM
