In recent years, these attributes have propelled Bangalore to the forefront of the development of high technology industry in India and is currently ranked as India's most developed city and one of the world's fastest growing urban areas.

Here are few picnic spots around Bangalore, ideal for one day picnic.

This is one of the fine picnic spots for nature lovers and anglers located at a distance of 80 km from Bangalore. The other attraction at Muthathi is Anjaneya temple. As per the legend, Sita, wife of lord Rama, lost her finger ring in this part of the river Kaveri and Hanuman twirled the river and found the ring.

Muthyala Maduvu (Pearl Valley): Muthyala Maduvu is located at a distance of 45 km from Bangalore. For those wishing to relax for a day, Muthyala Maduvu would be the ideal choice. Situated amidst hills, nestled in a valley, this secluded place makes a fascinating picnic spot.

The attraction of this place is the water falls, formed by streams trickle of water gushing from a height of 90 meters. These jets of water at the bottom give an impression of a pond of pearls - Muthyala Maduvu in Telugu. Muthyala means Pearl in Telugu Language. There is also a small temple dedicated to Shiva which adds a religious touch to this place.

Mekedatu: The river kaveri squeezes through a narrow throat and deep in which a goat could leap. That's how Mekedatu takes its name. Only 3 miles from this spot is Sangam, the confluence of Kaveri and Arakavathi where there is a temple dedicated to Lord Sangameshwara. Mekedatu is located at a distance of 100 km from Bangalore city.

Ramohalli: Ramohalli is located at a distance of 28 km from Bangalore. This serene picnic place has a sprawling 400 year old Banyan Tree, which covers an area of 4 hectares! It is called 'Dodda Alada Mara' in Kannada meaning Big Banyan Tree. The tree with its vertical root system is considered the biggest tree in Karnataka. The main trunk has given life to several roots and branches with lots of leaves. Branches jutting on all sides have slanted towards the ground.
