Bangalore is the capital city of Karnataka and one of the fastest growing cities in Asia. Bangalore is the anglicized version of Bengaluru or Bengalooru, the way it is pronounced in the local language Kannada. It is said that the word Bengalooru originated from the corrupted version of word "Bendakaalooru" meaning "the city of baked-beans", as the color of the soil look like that of baked bean.

Bangalore was once under the kingdom of Vijayanagar. The Bangalore was founded by Kempa Gowda in 1537AD. Later, this was ruled by Tipu Sultan and other Mysore kings as well as the British. Bangalore was a major military base during British rule.

One of the main attractions of Bangalore is the pleasant climate and moderate climate throughout the year. It is no too hot in summer and not too cold in winter. Bangalore weather features of cool winters and warm summers, without any extremes in both the cases.

You can see a mixture of different Indian linguistic groups here. Most of the local people and shopkeepers will speak at least four languages. Bangalore is one of the very few cities in India, where one can easily visit the city without knowing the local language.

The quick development during the last decades, (especially after 1995) caused thousands of people to migrate here from rural areas of karnataka and other parts of India.

Tourism in Bangalore is booming and many major tourist attractions are particularly suitable to visit with family, such as the colorful indigenous fish in the Aquarium of Bangalore, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium will show you the solar system, the Jawahar Bal Bhavan for miniature train rides, and the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, which is the combination of horticulture and recreation. Cubbon Park, a huge park located in the heart of the city with numerous trees. Tipu Sultan Fort and Bangalore Palace rank among the most visited monuments in Bangalore, while for entertainment and theatrical events, visit Ravindra Kalakshetra or Town hall or Rangashankara.

The important landmarks of Bangalore include Vidhana Saudha, Cubbon Park, Bangalore Palace, Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Venkatappa Art Gallery, Hugh Statue of Lord Shiva, ISKCON temple, etc.

Bangalore is one of the best places for those planning to visit south India, with many attractions nearby and perfect for excursions and day trips.
