Vidurashwatha
Vidurashwatha is a small village located just 6 km away from Gauribidanur of Chikkaballapur district. Vidurashwatha is situated near the Karnataka - Andhra Pradesh border.
The name Vidurashwatha is derived from a large Ashwath tree (Ficus religiosa) located in the village. As per the legend of the time of Mahabharata, this tree was planted by Vidura, a noble
in the kingdom of Dhritarashtra, and hence the name Vidurashwatha. Unfortunately, in 2001, this ancient tree fell on the ground.
There is also Naga Devatha Temple which is as old as the tree, here people do the prathishtapana (installation) of the Naga god (Serpent), to fulfill their desires, like having child, improvement
in business etc., the worship here is done to get rid of all problems related to Naga dosha.
Historical Background
Vidurashwatha also has the historical background. It is known as the Jallianwala Bagh South. On April 25, 1938, as part of the freedom struggle in India, a group of villagers had gathered

names of those who lost their lives in this incident.
